(1) From Central Station Kyoto: JR Sagano-line (platform No. 33) getting off at Nijoh-eki, the second stop, after 5 min ride. From Nijoh-eki, on foot ca. 15 min (north and then east), or Taxi (5 min), telling your driver “Shimodachiuri-dori, Senbon-Higashiiru, Nijo-Kita Shogakko-Kitagawa”, or take a city bus (No. 201, 206, 6 or 46) getting off at Senbon-Marutamachi and 4 min. walk eastward crossing the Senbon-Dori Street.
(2) From the center of the city: Take a subway to Karasuma-Oike, transfer to the Tozai-line and get off at Nijo-jo (Nijo-Castle) 10 min walk (north and Marutamachidori west).
HiPep Laboratories was founded in 2002 by Dr. K. Nokihara, CEO & CSO, focusing on development of novel bio-detection systems, exploration and clinical applications of biologically active peptides and their derivatives. In addition to original in-house research, HiPep provides consulting services in biomedical research as well as contract research involving syntheses, analyses, characterization, which are useful for training and improving coworker’s skill. Additionally, HiPep Lab’s performs production and sales of several laboratory instruments and reagents for construction of chemical libraries. The core technology designated “HiPep®” is based on the founder‘s long-standing multidisciplinary achievements (engineering, chemistry, analytical-, medical- and pharmaceutical sciences).
Major R&D theme of HiPep is “healthcare for the next-generation” by application of bio-molecular recognitions and four areas (summarized below) have recently been completed and looking for their exits.
1.PepTenChip® System, microarrays for biodetection with original and novel principles, disease-marker-independent and giving objective diagnostics. (PATs)
2.Longer lasting angiogenic agents useful for regenerative medicine (PATs).
3.Discovery tools, high quality one cyclic peptide immobilized on one gel-type bead (OPOB) and high throughput analytical technologies.
4.Production technologies for polyamides consisting of pyrrole and imidazole as major building unites (PIPA), which bind to dsDNA in a sequence-specific manner and controlling gene expression.
Recently we have established all fundamental technologies for bio-detection systems, and on track to manufacture products (biochip products PepTenChip® and PepTenCam detectors). We would like to expand the business into the north American and European markets. To realize it we are looking for potential collaborators and/or business partners who can take charge locally. Because of the unique technologies and novel principles, some science background may be required. We would be grateful if those person could perform obtaining investment, recruiting more local personnel, etc. We hope further collaboration with local medical institutions as part of the activities towards an approval as a medical device. Product manufacturing can be initially carried out by HiPep Laboratories in Japan.
